Toronto West athletes set new records and milestones at the Ontario High School championships on June 7-9, 2018.
Ofsaa is regarded as one of the two or three best high school meets in North America, and as usual, it did not disappoint as to just mention 2 phenomenal runs, Canadian interscholastic records were set in Senior boys 400 at 45.99, and senior girls 3000m at 9:21.!!
Our club is currently strongest at the grade 9 (Novice), and grade 10 (Junior) level, and we scored in each of the middle distance events, including 400m!
The kids won 3 medals. Sophia Lucki 3rd in 1500 with another club record; Then Aiden Webster 3rd in the 800m with a new club record, and at the end of the 3rd day, Roman Mironov placed 2nd in the 3k.
We also had 9 other top ten finishes! Ben Miske in Jr boys in both 1500 and 3k. Justin Jelaca at 800 and 1500. Aiden had a fantastic 400m to place 5th.
Roman was just off the podium in 4th in the 1500.
In the 800m events, we sent 6 athletes and 5 made the final. Along with Aiden’s bronze, Justin was 4th, Lauren Jacobs finished 6th, Sophia 7th and Joseph Falzata 8th, after running 1:59.5 to make the final.
Laura Peters very quietly ran a huge PR in the jr 3k to place 10th.
It was a very impressive weekend for Toronto West athletes!
