Welcome to TWA Cross Country Camp 2018!

Cross Country camp Mississauga During last two weeks of August Toronto West Athletics is offering a cross-country running camp for children ages 7-13. This camp will help girls and boys master fundamentals of XC running and competing for their school cross-country team in a fun camp environment. We are encouraging a love for running and increasing general fitness. The camp is located in Centennial Park, Etobicoke, convenient location for Mississauga and Toronto residents.

Week 1: August 20-24 9am-4pm $225
Week 2: August 27-31 9am-4pm $225
(early drop off and late pick up are available 7:45am-5:15pm, additional fees will be applied)
Discounts: for registering 2 or more children (family or friends) or registering for both weeks.

XC Camp Description:

Our starting and ending point each day is the Etobicoke Olympium, where campers can leave their belongings in our room.   Cross country practices and camp activities will take place throughout Centennial Park.

Mornings

Cross-country camp practiceIn the morning, the camp will consist of running or running-based activities.  There will be a running practice, which consists of a warm up, the practice, and a cool down.  The practice will be customized based on the age and running interests of the children.  For the younger children and/or ones who are newer to running, the practice component could be quite short. The remainder of the morning would be activities like capture the flag, freeze tag, soccer baseball; activities where they will be working on their running speed and endurance but in a fun way.  

For older children or children who have running goals they want to meet (make city XC finals for their school, run a certain pace, etc) their practice would be more similar to one they would experience if they joined our running club.  They would have the warm up and cool down, but the practice portion could be 60 minutes or more.  One day, practices could focus on interval training, another day it could be hill training, etc.  After practice they would have a snack and join the other activities.

Every child should bring lunch, snacks, and a reusable water bottle to camp each day.  Also bring sunscreen, hat, sweater, bathing suit, and a towel.

Afternoons

The afternoon camp schedule will vary from day to day and will include activities such as swimming, splash pad, mini-golf, park, water balloons, and team building games. 

We also have indoor activities planned for any inclement weather (extreme heat, thunderstorms, etc).  Again, our activities are tailored to the ages and interests of the campers.  Our councillors are able to lead sessions on yoga, stretching, nutrition, and racing strategies, or they could play games, do crafts or watch movies.

Cancellations and Refunds

Requests for refunds of fees paid must be made in writing and submitted to camp@torontowestathletics.com or to Toronto West Athletics, 4 Groverdale Road, Toronto, ON, M9C 3M8.  Requests received at least 30 days in advance of the selected camp session will be refunded, less a $25 administrative fee per session. Refund requests received with less than 30 days notice are subject to an administration fee of 50% of the total fee.
