The club had a great weekend at York over two days with several great results.
Highlight had to be Roman Mironov’s win in the 2000m at the Ontario-Quebec midget dual meet run in conjunction with AO.
Roman’s time was a new provincial record, but he needed it as two other runners were breathing down his neck!
The Provincial dual meet had some drama as it turned out to be a tie, with Sophia having to do some double duty and enter the race walk for a valuable point!
In the 1500s, Ben Miske had a very solid run and big PR in 4:21, and in the Senior 1500, Triphon unleashed a world class last 400 of 55 seconds to win a tactical battle in 3:58.
On Sunday, the day started off with great runs from Stephen and Ben in section 2 of the 3k, as they traded leads all the way before Ben pulled out the win with another PR of 9:27.
Triphon continued his education at 3k with a big PR of 8:32 and second place, but the most satisfying race of the day was Peter’s huge breakthrough and 15 second PR, ending up with 5th place in a time of 8:43. This was a long time coming and well deserved!
In the 800s, Sophia and Lauren had good runs and gained valuable racing experience, while in the boys’800 Aiden, Ivan and Joseph raced very well in the second fastest section.
Once again, the club’s presence was very noticeable as our athletes demonstrated their continuing improvement.
We will do it all again in two weeks, and add in our Bantam group for AO Bantam, Midget and JR. Championships.
