XC National Championship Recap

National Cross country Championship Recap. The Club travelled to Kingston for the national Championship and culmination of the xc season. We were rewarded with some very exciting results, highlighted by the Youth Girls silver medal performance in the club team event! Right from the gun the girls presence was very noticeable as they were led by Maddy, with Julia, Laura, Sophia and Patricia all placed nicely. Julia made a great closing charge to get up right behind Maddy, and Laura held on to finish inside the top 30. Sophia and Patricia also closed nicely and it was clear that we would be on the podium! A sign of the club’s strength was that the other girls on the team, Hanna S, Hanna F and Gretchen all had solid runs.

In the Youth boys race- the deepest race of the day with 220 starters, the boys ran very well and placed 6th, not that far away from the bronze medal. Peter led the way in 24th, followed by Daniel. Both Keithan and Stephen had breakthrough performances and beat several runners who had beaten them at Ofsaa. The younger boys all gained valuable experience for next year as both Ben and Roman closed nicely and will be hungry for next year.

Just our second year as a club at national xc, we followed up Ehab’s championship last year with a podium performance and a top 6 this year.

The coaches are very proud of the efforts and results of the kids and we can’t wait to go back to Kingston one more time next year. The goal will be two teams on the podium!
